Overwhelming success? Nope!
Works? Yes so far.
Should you try it? Yes. I wanted to write this post to share some of the challenges I have faced since I embarked on this journey in February [see original post here].
- Finding the right time to fast. When determining the best time window for your fast, consider which one you can skip. Is it dinner or breakfast? If you are working in the office or in shifts, it will be harder than working from home. Be prepared to adjust.
- Family- if you have a household to feed, cooking usually has to happen between fasts, otherwise you will struggle to cook and not lick to taste the flavor of the food. Not to mention the overwhelmingly smells that tempt you to break your fast.
- Coffee in the morning is my biggest struggle. I always have a cup of inspiration just after I wake up. It’s a hard habit to break. I have tried black coffee a couple of times but it’s just not the same. Tea works but I am just a coffee, cream and sugar kind of girl!

Can you be successful? Yes!
- Be flexible in your schedule. Sometimes you can do only 12:12 but try to do 16:8 whenever you can.
- Organization is key. Cook your lunch and dinner for tonight and tomorrow during your non fasting time.
- Don’t worry about what’s on the scale, focus on how you are feeling and fitting in your clothes. It’s the inches that count.
- Keep yourself busy. Exercise, read or garden so your focus isn’t always on food.
- Listen to your body. If you are hungry, eat.
- Be patient. It will take time.
Remember to be kind to yourself during this journey.
Life happens and it’s okay to adjust as needed but don’t give up on yourself or your health.
Did this post help you? Are you doing IF? If so, do you have any tips to share?
