Quote 1: “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

This quote is powerful because it speaks a truth that continue to exist in this world. Injustices exist in every corner of the world. From gender inequalities to education to climate change, the problems that exist within our world are great and overwhelming. Nonetheless, each and every one of us have an opportunity and ability to do something about it. Only by working together, as a global community can be begin to truly solve it.

Quote 2: “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.

Man or woman, the true test of our character stands in moments of hardship and difficulties. Instead of fearing challenges, see it as an opportunity for growth. A chance to solve problems and make a difference to the world we live in. And when things become difficult, turn to wonder.

Quote 3: “Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed.”

This powerful quote rings true for past and present struggles, especially the struggle of the Khmer Krom people. To learn more about our work with the Khmer Krom, read Peace, Justice and the work of Khmer Krom.

Quote 4: “The time is always right to do what is right.”

Why wait for the right time to do the right things, when you have an opportunity right now to do it? If it matters to you, do something about it. If it feels right, do it. Be bigger than your fears. And remember, time cannot be saved, only to be used at this present moment.

Quote 5: “A right delayed is a right denied.”

It is 2022 and yet millions of people are still denied their basic human rights and fundamental freedoms. The work of promoting and protect rights is important and fundamental to the fabric of our society. Anybody and everybody can be human right activist. Not sure what to fight for? Look no further than the walls within kitchen space and you will find a cause close to the heart of many women.

Quote 6: “The ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people but the silence over that by the good people.

There are many good people in the world that are bystanders. If you live in a world that has free speech, use that opportunity to SPEAK UP for yourself and SPEAK OUT for others. Be the champion for those who have limited opportunities to voice their concerns or injustice. Be the person that helps to build systems or policies that promote and protect people’s rights and aspiration.

Finally, remember today is a gift and that we ALL Matter. It doesn’t matter what we look like or where we are born. What truly matters, is that we live our lives with intentional and purpose for the greater good. That is the story and message of Martin Luther King Jr.
