It is a time of giving to others. To show our appreciation and love for those that has helped us along the journey of life. But have you given yourself a gift? If the answer is no, then you are in the right place. Here are four gifts of self care that you can give yourself today to make your world a little brighter.

Start by giving yourself the gift of kindness and spurge on something you really want that brings you joy. It could also be as simple as saying no things that no longer matter to you or saying yes to taking better care of your health. Yes to personal leave. To a coffee date with a friend. And Yes to more “me time”.

Thinking about yourself is not selfish. It is self love. As you gain more responsibilities, whether it is at home or in the office, it gets harder to find time for yourself. If we didn’t intentionally take care of ourselves, then who will?
Next, give yourself the gift of patience. It’s a busy and hectic season. There are long lines at the stores and crazy traffic on the road. If you are finding moments where your patience is tried, take a deep breath and let it out slowly. And remember, when things become difficult, turn to wonder.
Thirdly, appreciate the gift of time to hit the breaks and slow down. Give yourself time and permission to do absolutely nothing. No dishes, no cooking and no cleaning. No checking emails or working during your time off. We are not machines and our bodies need some time to rest and heal from the daily grinds of life.
Lastly, as you slow down, reconnect with yourself through yoga, meditation, or fishing. Whatever activity brings you to a place of peace, do it more frequently. We often caught in the busyness of life that we tend to lose our focus on our self. Give yourself the gift to connect with your body and mind. And find some time to sit in the sunshine and enjoy the present moment. To breathe in fresh air and feel the warmth of the sun.
