Elsa and the rain

I woke up to the rain this morning. Falling from the sky to the roof, I could hear it rushing down the gutter and flowing into a puddle of water waiting to be soaked up by Mother Earth again.

I could hear the roar of the wind in the distance and see it’s gentle touch on the leaves of the flowers outside my door, swaying as if singing in the rain. Sometimes it is a gently caress, other times a rough shove, the leaves and branches forced to move at the will of the wind.

It is a symphony of sounds, both loud and soft, giving us a sense of calmness and comfort for this new day.

Up north, our friends in Big Bend are preparing for a landfall, tropical storm Elsa stepping on the land of Florida before flying off along the eastern coast of the US and Canada.

We are barely a month into the Atlantic Hurricane Season and we’ve had our first named hurricane #Elsa. If the last two weeks of cloudy skies and rainy weather is any indication, this season may be one we must all be prepared for.

I am grateful that the storm did not impact us directly and praying that others in its path will be okay.

It’s days like this that I feel a sense of gratitude for the shelter of our home and the love of our family, friends and community.

What are you grateful for today?
