As I gaze out at the blue skies and the trees, I am struck by the sense of peace and tranquility that nature provides, like the warmth and embrace of a loving mother towards her child.

Life is like a leaf. Under the right conditions, such as water, soil and warmth, the bud of a new leaf, uncurls and flourishes embracing life.
The young leaves, bright and green are like our children, full of energy, hope and dreams.
Like a leaf that becomes several shades darker, our children will become young adults. Learning more of the world, the responsibilities and burdens of life.
As the seasons change, they too will change, like us. Once as black as the darkness of the night or as yellow as the sun, our hair will change to grey. Our body, once young and strong, will seek greater attention from us, to nourish and take better care of it.
As we enter retirement, like the changing of leaves from dark green to shades of yellow and orange, we reflect back on life and where it has taken us. Perhaps with a fondness, we remember the people that have crossed our paths and the lessons life taught us. The good, the bad and the ones we wish never to revisit again.
Like the leaves that finally detaches from the tree of life, we too return to Earth, floating in the wind before landing on the soil that gave us life and nutrients.
Life and death is like the changing leaves. A cycle that is as normal and natural as the changing seasons. What is different though is the power that each of us have as conscious beings.
Unlike the leaves that change with the flow of the seasons, we are blessed with awareness and power, to make the most of today.
We cannot stop time but we can make the most of our time. To do something good and kind for yourself and others and make this world a better place.
